THEY FOUND IT!

Believe it or not, Bob and Carrie's van has been found!!!

For the few of you that don't know what I'm talking about, Bob and Carrie First went on Mission: Detroit with us as our cooks. On Wednesday morning they woke up and their van was missing. Sometime during the night, someone crowbarred into their van, hot wired it and drove off. After a week trying to figure out what to do next, the van turned up in an impound lot. A good amount of damage done trying to break in, but their van is theirs again. They thank all those that helped keep their spirits up while dealing with the headache and paper work.

Wear Your Sunday Best

The church that we will be going to on Sunday morning, is a conservative, gospel church. As we will be their guests (they had to reserve seats for us or else there wouldnt have been room), we need to be respectful of their culture. here are some basic guidlines...Remember, this is just for Sunday morning, pack normal for the rest of the week.

1. No T-Shirts
2. No Shorts
3. No Blue Jeans

You guys have all had to dress decent before (weddings and funerals at least), just look nice for our hosts. In case you need some visual aid...

	Great! But not necessary.
	Perfect. Nice Pants, nice shirts.
	NOT OK!

So you missed the meeting...now what?

First, I'll say that I don't hate you for missing my mandatory meeting. Especially if you told me ahead of time. If you didn't tell me ahead of time then I'm just mad. Unless you never heard that there was a meeting, in which case I accept your being mad a me. Anyway, here are the important things you need to know...

+Make sure everything is turned in.

__Permission Slip (students only)
__$150 money paid (or scholarship)
__Spending Cash (You'll need to cover about 3 fast food meals and probably want to snack at the corner store. $25 should be fine, talk to Jeremy or Caz if this is a problem.)

+Marked Calendars

*Saturday 7pm, preloading

Bring your luggage before or at 7pm Saturday so that we can load trailers before we have to leave on Sunday.

**Sunday 7am, meet at church

We need to be on the road by 8am, hence the preloading.

+Volunteering

You MUST email Jeremy your top 3 choices for where you want to serve down there. Here are your options:

Lower Grade Groups (5-7 yr olds)
Upper Grade Groups (8-9 yr olds, jr girls)
Lower Games
Upper Games
Lower Crafts
Upper Crafts
Lower Teaching
Upper Teaching
Offsite (do work projects other than working with kids)

Mission: Detroit 2008

the Scoop!

July 13-18, 2008 (Sunday - Friday)

Cost: $150 (includes food, & lodging for the week)

Who: High School Students (includes those who just finished 8th grade)

What: We partner with Military Ave. Church to bring VBS to over 200 kids in the inner city of Detroit. Through the week, we work hard (all day), play hard (all afternoon), and pray hard (each evening).

Your Checklist (what must get done for your trip)

__ Registration form: already due! (get it in if you haven't yet)

__ $50 deposit: already due! (get it in if you haven't yet)

__ MANDITORY meeting (parent & students): July 7 at 7pm - youth center
-contact Jeremy if you can't possibly make this meeting

__ SLiM health form: due July 12
-only required 1x per year - you may have one in for a different event

__ Payment complete ($150 total): due July 12 - scholarships are available

__ Pack your stuff: July 12 at 7pm to load the truck - pack list
-bring everything (bag, bed) except what you need in the van for the drive

__ Leave for Detroit: 7am on Sunday July 13 from the youth center
-be a little dressed-up for church (no shorts & collared shirts for guys)
